Promoting Careers in Engineering…

At the Engineering Academy we’re not only committed to supporting the current dedicated generation of engineers, we’re actively working to encourage the diverse and talented next one too!

If however you are a student interested in engineering then read on to learn what Uniper is doing to help develop students’ future in engineering.

Across the power industry nearly 80% of current engineers will retire within the next 15 years, this alongside the demand for new skills in renewable power generation has led to a future skills shortage.

How do we address the shortage?

We develop relationships with key stakeholders to raise awareness of careers in engineering and the opportunities available. Our stakeholders include...

  • Universities
  • Professional Institutions such as the RAEng, IMechE, IET, National Skills Academy for Power etc.

We work with local site employees and support their work with local education institutions and work on national activities such as the Big Bang Fair in order to address the shortage.

This activity is critical to safeguard the future of Uniper in the UK, as we rely on engineering skills at the heart of our business and even more so as we move into new Renewable generation activities.
